Decades before Elvin, the Beatles and Justin Bieber there was the original, Frank Sinatra. Ever since he first gained recognition in the group Hoboken Four in 1935, Frank become the ultimate entertainer. Women were obsessed with him and every man wanted to be him. Since then, the obsession with old blue eyes has never waned. Following the passing of his beloved wife the Barbara and Frank Sinatra sale offered by Sotheby’s will give many a chance to own something more personal from the iconic couple.

 

Over a series of auctions the Barbara and Frank Sinatra sale will see hundreds of pieces go on offer. This historic collection offers an exceptionally wide number of pieces from both of Barbara and Frank Sinatra’s public, professional and most excitingly personal lives. The sale offers exceptional jewellery from Barbara Sinatra’s personal collection including a spectacular emerald-cut 20.60-carat Diamond Ring, estimated to sell for up to US$1.5 million as well as a spectacular Diamond, Turquoise and Onyx Parure.

Highlights of Sotheby’s December sales will include: film and entertainment memorabilia, including Frank Sinatra’s personal copies of scripts from movies and projects across his career; fine art including a Norman Rockwell portrait of Frank, works by Pablo Picasso and Childe Hassam, and a number of paintings by Frank himself; jewelry collected by Barbara Sinatra from iconic houses including Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari and Marina B; a wealth of political and presidential memorabilia, including autographed books, awards and photographs related to presidents spanning from Harry Truman to Bill Clinton; a selection of personal effects, including photographs with fellow Rat Pack members and other entertainment elite; furniture and decorative art from their residences in Palm Springs, Los Angeles and Malibu; and more.

The collection that boasts with important works of art in our cultural history as well an abundance of objects that were acquired because they held sentimental value to the legendary couple will be on display to the public on 30 November 2018. A portion of the proceeds of the sale will go to the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center in Rancho Mirage, California. This non-profit organisation, which seeks to provide counselling for victims of physical, sexual and emotional child abuse, was founded by the couple in 1986.
