Just in case we’re in for a scorcher, we wanted to share five top ways to keep cool and hydrated whilst away on one of the many June breaks UK bound you could take!

Have you just bought one of the many caravans for sale around the UK, or are you heading off to a rented caravan or another type of accommodation for June?

If so, how about incorporating some of these tips into your holiday routine, or whilst at home in the heat, to keep you all safe, cool and hydrated?

Scroll to find our five top tips.

1. Take Water With You Wherever You Go

A tip that seems obvious, but a very important one when it comes to staying hydrated throughout the day, is to carry a bottle of water around with you.

Take a reusable water bottle with you wherever you go. Even when you’re not feeling thirsty drink a few sips from it, because in actual fact, when you start to feel thirsty, that’s your body’s way of telling you it’s already starting to feel dehydrated.

In many places across the UK, you can refill your water bottle for free, so it’s always worth looking out for refill stations or asking cafés and restaurants if they wouldn’t mind refilling your bottle for you.

2. Hot Water Bottles

Did you know, hot water bottles aren’t just for hot water? A little trick for keeping cool is to fill your hot water bottle with ice-cold water and use it as a cooling cushion for your neck, ankles or wherever you feel needs cooling the most.

One way to ensure you stay cool on the car journey to your accommodation is to fill a hot water bottle with cold water just before leaving. This way, you can place it on your lap, behind your neck, or where ever you like, to keep you or your child cool through the long trip.

3. Shaded Areas

To avoid heat stroke and getting burnt by the sun beating down, it’s good to stay in shaded areas when possible. And when you’re out and about in the sun, don’t forget to apply sun cream regularly and wear a hat to protect your scalp and sunglasses for your eyes.

Believe it or not, even when keeping in shaded areas, you can still get a suntan, so there’s no need to be in full sunlight.

4. Eat Fruit

Eating fruit is a great way to not only get your 5-a-day into your system, but add natural water into your body too to keep it hydrated.

Fruits such as grapes, watermelon, melons and pineapple are a great way to stay hydrated whilst enjoying some natural goodness.

For an extra cooling effect, place the fruit in the fridge before eating.

5. Buckets of Water

If you have a spare bucket, or your child isn’t building sandcastles and the bucket is free, add some cold water into the bucker and place your feet inside. This will help you to feel cooler, especially if the water is touching your ankles. If you own the accommodation you’re staying in, you could always keep a spare foot spa in your holiday home. In the winter, fill it with warm water to have a nice relaxing moment, or add cold water in the summer to keep yourself cool.
