Works from the Esteemed Collection to be Sold in a Series of Auctions, Premiering on 4 April in New York
Proceeds to Benefit the Charitable Goals of the Foundation
Phillips is excited to unveil an extraordinary offering – a carefully curated selection of captivating photographs from The Martin Z. Margulies Foundation, with all proceeds dedicated to furthering the foundation’s philanthropic endeavors. Recognized as one of today’s most influential collectors, Martin Margulies has meticulously assembled a groundbreaking collection that spans the realms of 20th century and contemporary art. Boasting an array of internationally acclaimed artists, Margulies’ collection provides a comprehensive glimpse into diverse artistic perspectives. This remarkable assembly is showcased at The Warehouse, a bespoke exhibition space in Miami established by Margulies, which not only serves as a platform for exhibitions drawn from his personal collection but also offers public access to an awe-inspiring range of artistic masterpieces.
The inaugural auction for the Margulies Foundation is scheduled for April 4th and will feature over 150 lots in a standalone event preceding Phillips’ Spring Various Owners sale of Photographs on April 5th. This exclusive auction will spotlight seminal works by celebrated photographers including Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Gordon Parks, Cindy Sherman, Carrie Mae Weems, Hank Willis Thomas, Danny Lyon, and Ed Ruscha, among other luminaries of the photographic world. A subsequent standalone auction is slated for October 2024, with plans for additional online auctions to be announced at a later date. Proceeds from all sales will be used to fund the work of the Margulies Foundation to improve the status of poor, homeless, and marginalized children and families; to address hunger and food security; and to provide for the special needs of veterans.
