Step into aristocratic elegance as The Ivy celebrates Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale with a limited-edition 1930s-inspired menu.

This autumn, as audiences prepare to say goodbye to one of Britain’s most enduring cultural touchstones, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, The Ivy Collection is marking the occasion with a new limited-edition menu. Inspired by the elegance of the Crawleys’ dining table and shaped by The Ivy’s own contemporary style, the menu revisits 1930s culinary traditions while giving them a modern finish.

Available nationwide from 3 September, The Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale at The Ivy menu offers diners a chance to experience two courses for £27.95 or three for £34.95. The setting, known for its long-standing association with British glamour and hospitality, provides a fitting backdrop for a menu that brings film and fine dining together.

The Legacy of Downton Abbey

Since its debut, Downton Abbey has captured global audiences with its period detail, layered storytelling, and its portrait of a family balancing tradition with social change. The Crawleys and their household became a lasting symbol of English refinement, their story reflecting the broader shifts of the early twentieth century.

The new film, directed by Simon Curtis and written by creator Julian Fellowes, is set in the 1930s. It follows the family through uncertainty, scandal, and shifting social roles, with food and tradition once again playing their familiar role as anchors of continuity. This focus on the dining table, as a site of memory and occasion, has been central to Downton Abbey from the very beginning.

A Menu Shaped by the 1930s

The Ivy has drawn on this spirit for its new offering, with dishes echoing aristocratic dining while reflecting the restaurant’s own history and present style.

Starters include Severn & Wye Smoked Salmon, served with brown bread, butter, and lemon, as well as the lighter Salade Du Verger with figs, pecans, whipped feta, and truffle vinaigrette.

Main courses feature The Ivy Shepherd’s Pie, prepared with slow-braised lamb and beef, rosemary, red wine, and Cheddar mash. Grilled Lemon Sole on the Bone is served with beurre noisette, capers, and lemon, while a 21-Day Aged Sirloin Steak and Braised Duck Curry represent the blending of British tradition with global flavours. A Garden Vegetable Curry rounds out the vegetarian choice.

Desserts include The Ivy Chocolate Dome with honeycomb and caramel sauce, the flambéed Orchard Apple Tart with Calvados, and the Caramelised Crème Brûlée.

Drinks to Match

The drinks selection has been tailored to the occasion. The Ivy Guest Champagne leads the offering, while the Gilded Peach Cobbler cocktail, created with sloe gin, Crème de Pêche, Beesou honey aperitif, pineapple syrup, and Champagne, recalls the decadence of the 1930s.

A Word From the Chef

Sean Burbidge, Executive Chef at The Ivy Collection, explains:
“It’s been a pleasure to collaborate with the cinema release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale on this special menu. We’ve taken great joy in creating dishes that reflect the elegance of the era, inspired by the film’s characters, 1930s flavours, and even dishes once served at The Original Ivy. From rich, comforting classics to refined favourites with a modern twist, we hope each plate transports guests into the world of Downton – with all the charm, nostalgia and indulgence that entails.”

The Ivy’s Place in British Dining

Since opening in London’s West End more than a century ago, The Ivy has been part of Britain’s cultural fabric. Its reputation for welcoming actors, aristocrats, and tastemakers continues through The Ivy Collection, now spanning 43 brasseries and cafés across the UK and Ireland.

This new Downton Abbey menu underscores that legacy. By combining cinematic storytelling with a dining experience rooted in heritage, The Ivy offers both continuity and celebration.

A Fitting Farewell

As Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale arrives in cinemas on 12 September, The Ivy’s special menu provides an opportunity to experience the same atmosphere of refinement that has defined the series. For long-time fans and new diners alike, it is a chance to enjoy a menu that captures a sense of occasion and history.

Booking Details:
