The social calendar is dotted with charity events happening each week but there are a few events that stand out. Partly because of the wonderful organisation, experience and guest list but most importantly because of the work they do. One of these is the DKMS Big Love Gala.
Blood cancer has been given a huge blow thanks to the DKMS. Started by one family’s search for a bone marrow donor has now grown to become the world’s largest international donor centre. This wonderful initiative saw London’s finest (and some international faces) attend one of the most anticipated charity events of the year.
The DKMS Big Love Gala saw guests arrive at the world famous Roundhouse. Attendees enjoyed sipped on cocktails and champagne on the mezzanine while DJ Wade Crescent was on the decks. The exceptionally talented British cellist Maxim Calver performed as guests made their way to their tables. The evening saw heartbreaking and heartwarming speeches from survivors and supporters.
Supermodel Eva Herzigova introduced Sotheby’s Chairman Lord Dalmeny to commence the auction. Key lots in the auction included Erdem front row fashion show tickets, a stay in Amani beach resort in Kenya and a print by British fine art photographer David Yarrow.
Jack Savoretti, who performed an acoustic set to the audience, ended the evening with performances of Knock Knock and Back Where I Belong to name a few.
