Nestled in the northern reaches of Borneo lies Sabah, a region renowned for its rich biodiversity and stunning natural landscapes. Shangri-La Rasa Ria, situated within Sabah, boasts its very own nature reserve – the Rasa Ria Reserve.

For Sharon, one of the esteemed Resident Naturalists, the jungle is more than just a workplace – it’s her home. Drawing upon her deep-rooted connection to the local area, Sharon shares her wealth of knowledge with guests, illuminating the wonders of native wildlife and plant species.
With a tenure at Shangri-La Rasa Ria since 2017, Sharon’s expertise shines brightest when discussing reptiles and insects, instilling a newfound appreciation for these often misunderstood creatures.
Thimothy: Championing Conservation Through Education
Armed with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality & Tourism (Hon) from Sidma College, Thimothy embodies the intersection of passion and expertise. As a Resident Naturalist, he channels his love for the local culture and commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility into enlightening guests about the intricacies of Sabah’s ecosystem.
Specialising in the realm of insects and butterflies, Thimothy unveils the fascinating world of these delicate creatures, with over 100 distinct species thriving within the confines of the Rasa Ria Reserve.
