After five days of show after show, the Carriageworks in Sydney was gearing up to wave goodbye to the presentation of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia Resort 2019 when Camilla took to the planks to close the season. The designer’s signature bohemian style and ‘her love of travel’ was evident once again in the Camilla Resort 2019 collection.
Set in a spectacular Asian themed wonderland the Resort 2019 collection was a celebration of the free spirit and marriage of cultures. The collection was drenched in light and air-like fabrics that were richly patterned in cultural fabrics, ethnic motives and a fusion of styles and silhouettes. We saw the reinvention of the kimono as well as an ode to the 60s ‘exotic resort wear’ era that conjures up images of the jet-set generation sipping martinis in fabulous settings. Designer Camilla Franks stated:
“My vision is to awaken the adventurous spirit that resides within all of us (no matter who we are), because we believe that everyone has a right to experience freedom and feel joy. We embrace all walks of life, as we believe it is everyone’s right to feel beautiful no matter their age, shape or race”.
