Located in picture perfect Syracuse, the Caportigia Boutique Hotel is an intimate hotel which enjoys an excellent location with a striking contemporary design.
But what made this hotel stand out most to me was probably the best reception staff I have encountered in a long time! They were helpful and informative and this certainly enhanced the enjoyment of your holiday even more.
Its central location offers a great base to explore from and is only a 5-minute walk to get to the Island of Ortigia.
The junior suite is excellently appointed and very large. It has everything you need, is pleasantly decorated, roomy, clean and most importantly for any holiday, it is comfortable. Its large floor area is only enhanced by a very high ceiling, adding to the feeling of space. The towels the hotel offers are luxurious and the soaps and shampoo smelled great! Now although many of us would take this for granted, I have to note that the shower pressure is very strong! Although this might seem like a given, for those of you who have travelled to Italy will know, this is not always the case.
Wi-fi was easy to log in to and download speeds were very fast. Honestly, I couldn’t find anything bad to say.
The breakfast buffet is very good and had lots of great options with good coffee – there is certainly plenty to eat. In addition to yoghurt, cheeses, cereals, fruit, fresh meats, freshly squeezed juices, freshly baked cakes and pies, a cook was on hand to make you eggs any way you would like. Needless to say, the breakfast was delicious!
I personally also recommend dining in the excellent restaurant Il Tiranno located inside the hotel.
“Cheffina”, the young and talented chef of the restaurant treats every single raw material to enhance all tastes in the palate and without ever covering individual flavours or cooking food too much.
Being in the centre of Siracusa, in the Hotel’s district you will find all you need. The position allows you to be close to the major attractions of the city: 1 km to the Cathedral of Syracuse and the Neapolis Archaeological Park, plus, as mentioned before, the hotel is a mere 600 metres to the Island of Ortigia.
But, if galavanting through the streets is not your scene then escapism is not far away. You only need to go up to the rooftop enjoy an intiamate oasis of calm.
The rooftop terrace has some truly awesome views of the city. With its intimate feel it has the atmosphere of a private roof terrace of a friend’s holiday villa rather than that of a hotel. Sitting here in the balmy air, feeling the wind gently caress your skin really makes you forget every care in the world.
You can tell that the Caportigia Boutique Hotel really believes in its motto. Their essential duty is to make you feel comfortable and at ease: you will return from your holiday with the energy of the wind and the strength of the sea…
