Bentley Mulliner unveils the first Batur Convertible, featuring a 740 bhp W12 and a bespoke One Plus One interior for ultimate personalised luxury.

Bentley Mulliner has taken another step in its coachbuilding journey with the unveiling of the first Batur Convertible, a highly exclusive one-off model crafted entirely in Crewe. Representing the pinnacle of bespoke luxury motoring, the car combines Mulliner’s traditional handcraftsmanship with a client-led process that gives the owner significant input into the final design.

Presented in a shimmering Opalite finish with Beluga and Mandarin highlights, the Batur Convertible carries the same visual authority as the coupé version while placing a stronger emphasis on individuality. Beneath its sculpted bodywork sits Bentley’s formidable 740 bhp 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine, making it the most powerful open-top Grand Tourer the brand has ever produced.

Central to this car, however, is the unique One Plus One interior layout. This approach deliberately separates the driver and passenger zones. By doing so, it ensures that each side of the cabin has its own distinct personality.

Driver-Centric Exterior and The Stunning Cockpit

The Batur Convertible’s exterior lines are inspired by classic sports racing cars. Yet, they remain true to the proportions and stance of a modern Bentley Grand Tourer. The gloss Beluga racing stripe edged with fine Mandarin pinstripes flows from the iconic matrix grille across the bonnet, through the cockpit airbridge and onto the rear deck, finishing at the Bentley wings badge.

At the rear of this stunning design, embroidery over the Tonneau continues the same theme. This ensures consistency across every angle of the car. Gloss Beluga detailing on the grille and alloy wheels is accented by Mandarin touches, reinforcing its character as a car designed to be both elegant and assertive.

Inside, the driver’s cockpit is deliberately bold, wrapped in Beluga black hide and Alcantara. The console and fascia are bordered with Mandarin leather, enveloping the driver in an environment that is immediately distinct.

Mulliner’s Batur pattern has been applied to the door inserts and seat bolsters, while fine Mandarin stitching ties the design together. Everything in this section of the cabin is arranged to make the driver feel at the centre of the car’s performance and purpose.

The ‘One Plus One’ Interior Concept

On the passenger side, the design is equally refined but with a completely different palette. Here, Linen hide and Alcantara replace the darker tones, complemented by Mandarin accents. This creates a clear division between the two sides. And yet, they remain complementary rather than opposing. The effect is of two worlds meeting within one cabin, which is the essence of the One Plus One philosophy.

The duality continues behind the seats, where the luggage area adopts the same two-tone colour split. Even the seat belts and bespoke key cases have been designed to match the individual environments, extending the theme across details that might otherwise be overlooked.

Mulliner’s focus on precision is also seen in the finishing materials. Satin black engine spin contrasts with gloss Beluga veneer on the centre console, while solid titanium appears in the rotary controls, gearshift paddles, steering wheel Top Dead Centre and air vent details.

The instrumentation dials feature Beluga bezels with light titanium faces, completing the balance of dark and light throughout the interior. Illuminated treadplates bearing the Batur name and series number make clear its exclusivity.

Bespoke Luggage and Accessories

To accompany the Batur Convertible, Mulliner has created a two-piece luggage set designed in the same dual-tone colour scheme as the interior.

This is stored neatly in the rear compartment, ensuring that even practical elements are delivered with a bespoke touch. Two matching key cases are also provided, reinforcing Bentley’s attention to consistency across the ownership experience.

First Public Appearances

The engineering development car, known as Car Zero, made its first outing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it appeared in action for the first time. From there, it travelled to the 1 for Monterey Car Week, one of the most prestigious automotive gatherings in the world.

For its appearance at Monterey, the car was shown in a dramatic duo-tone Vermilion Gloss over Vermilion Satin finish, underlining the flexibility of Mulliner’s coachbuilding approach.

Continuing the Mulliner Tradition

The Batur Convertible is the latest addition to Mulliner’s expanding Coachbuilt family, which already includes the Bacalar barchetta and the Batur coupé.

As the world’s oldest coachbuilder, Mulliner offers clients the opportunity to shape their own car through a visualiser that allows precise control over colours, materials and finishes.

Each car is then hand-built to order, ensuring no two creations are ever the same.
