Bentley’s Mulliner bespoke studio has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the ‘Expressions of Texture’ collection, commissioned by Bentley Rancho Mirage in California.
This exceptional collection showcases four Continental GT Speed Convertibles, each meticulously crafted to reflect the diverse landscapes of Palm Springs and its surrounding areas.
The collection represents a significant milestone in automotive design, combining Mulliner’s renowned craftsmanship with inspiration drawn from the dramatic natural scenery of the Coachella Valley. Each vehicle serves as a canvas for expressing the studio’s unparalleled attention to detail and innovative approach to luxury automotive customisation.
California Landscapes Reimagined in Automotive Art
The desert resort city of Rancho Mirage provides a stunning backdrop for this unique collection. Situated within the Coachella Valley, the area’s diverse terrain encompasses arid deserts, vibrant greenery, and weathered mountains, all within comfortable driving distance.
This rich tapestry of natural beauty has directly influenced the design philosophy behind each of the four Continental GT Speed Convertibles.
These bespoke vehicles translate the region’s natural wonders into automotive excellence through an array of exclusive features. The collection includes models finished in carefully selected satin exterior paints, complemented by distinctive stone fascia veneers and custom-designed blind embossed upholstery, each element carefully chosen to reflect specific aspects of the surrounding landscape.
Stellar Inspiration: The Peacock Blue Marvel
Among the collection’s standout pieces is a Continental GT Speed Convertible finished in Peacock Blue satin. This particular model draws its inspiration from the Coachella Valley’s renowned star-filled night skies.
The exterior features a sophisticated tri-tone carbon fibre Styling Specification, incorporating satin carbon fibre, Electro Blue, and Peacock Blue elements.
The interior continues the celestial theme with a two-tone fascia in Peacock Blue satin, expertly paired with Slate stone veneer. An Electro Blue pinstripe provides elegant separation, while matching details outline the bullseye air vent vanes and headrests. The craftsmanship extends to Serenity quilting on the seat uppers and tonneau cover, creating a harmonious blend of colour and texture.
Desert Dunes: The Ghost White Pearl Edition
Capturing the essence of desert wilderness, another model in the collection showcases a Ghost White Pearl satin finish, complemented by Tungsten wheels and a Silver Tempest pinstripe.
The vehicle’s interior features specially designed blind quilting on the seat uppers and tonneau cover, requiring over 100 hours of meticulous craftsmanship to achieve the flowing graphics inspired by desert dunes.
The fascia and console, finished in Ghost White Pearl satin over Autumn Stone veneer, demonstrate Mulliner’s mastery of subtle sophistication. This combination creates a visual narrative that pays homage to the natural beauty of the desert landscape.
Mountain Majesty: The Havana Edition
The collection’s third masterpiece takes its cues from the rugged mountains surrounding the Coachella Valley. Finished in Havana satin, this Continental GT Speed Convertible captures the earthy tones of the landscape at sunset.
The interior showcases a combination of Cognac and Burnt Oak hide, enhanced by bespoke blind quilted seat backs and a tonneau cover that mirrors the topographic features of Death Valley.
Innovation extends to the smallest details, with 3D-carved floor mats featuring topographic map designs. The fascia and console showcase the exterior’s Havana satin finish over Copper Stone veneer, divided by a bronze pinstripe, creating a cohesive design that celebrates the region’s mountainous terrain.
The Future of Bespoke Luxury
The collection, which includes a fourth model in British Racing Green satin, demonstrates that colour selection is merely one aspect of the personal commissioning journey. The tactile softness of Dinamica upholstery, the cool touch of stone veneer, and the yielding contours of quilting provide customers with an extensive palette of creative possibilities.
David Parker, Mulliner’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasises this vision: “We hope that the Expressions of Texture Collection will inspire customers to explore the full range of possibilities offered by the Mulliner bespoke studio. At Mulliner our goal is to inspire possibilities beyond their imagination.”
