In a momentous celebration of Milan’s rich cultural tapestry and architectural legacy, Gran Meliá proudly announces the grand opening of Palazzo Cordusio.
Nestled within the iconic Palazzo Venezia, a testament to nineteenth-century Italian design, the flagship property epitomizes hospitality excellence marked by sophistication, beauty, and connection.
Partnering with the esteemed Sunset Hospitality Group, Gran Meliá’s Palazzo Cordusio aims to be Milan’s new gourmet hotspot and social hub. Boasting globally inspired fine dining concepts, the hotel promises an unmatched central location to explore the city’s cultural wonders.
Strengthening Luxury Presence
As the second Gran Meliá hotel and the fourth luxury property in Italy, Palazzo Cordusio fortifies Meliá Hotels International’s standing as a key player in the luxury hospitality segment. The hotel strategically positions itself in Piazza Cordusio, one of Milan’s most iconic squares, housed within the historic Palazzo Venezia.
Originally constructed between 1897 and 1901, Palazzo Venezia’s eclectic design, inspired by architect Luca Beltrami, played a pivotal role in the area’s restoration. Under the aegis of Meliá Hotels International, the reopening spearheads the redevelopment of Piazza Cordusio, symbolically connecting cultural hubs and inviting international travellers to explore its storied past.
Architectural Conservation
Generali Real Estate and Meliá Hotels International, with support from Studio Marco Piva, meticulously managed the recent renovation project. The grand staircase, a protagonist of the conservation effort, retained its marble walls and floors, preserving the building’s aesthetic heritage. The 84 rooms and suites now seamlessly blend protected elements with contemporary luxury.
Studio Asah by Alvaro and Adriana Sans, longstanding partners of MHI, crafted the interior design, embracing a sophisticated and contemporary style. Rubelli fabrics pay homage to Generali’s Venetian roots, and iconic furnishings from Italy’s eminent brands adorn the rooms and communal areas.
Culinary Symphony by Sunset Hospitality Group
Renowned for creating unique experiences worldwide, Sunset Hospitality Group introduces four exceptional home-grown concepts to Palazzo Cordusio’s dining scene.

Already acclaimed in London, SACHI, under Chef Moon Kyung Soo, takes centre stage on the Milanese dining scene. Offering an Omakase counter, a large dining area, and an expansive garden space overlooking the Duomo, SACHI promises a captivating journey through Japan’s diverse flavours.
Palazzo Cordusio extends beyond culinary excellence, offering an intimate wellness area with an indoor swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath, and relaxation lounge. A state-of-the-art gym with Technogym equipment and a panoramic view completes the offering.
The debut of Palazzo Cordusio marks the arrival of the first Gran Meliá branded hotel in Milan and the second in Italy after the success of Villa Agrippina in Rome.
This opening solidifies Meliá Hotels International’s commitment to Italy’s luxury development pipeline, with plans for a fifth hotel in Milan by 2024 as part of The Meliá Collection. As Milan’s newest gem, Palazzo Cordusio stands as a beacon of elegance, inviting guests to experience the epitome of luxury in the heart of this historic city.
