When Cloud 9 was launched in January 2017 it made waves throughout the yachting industry and has continued to do so ever since. The superyacht, spanning an immense 74m in length is the ultimate in design, practicality and opulence.
She was born from the hands and minds of three of the greatest yachting players that the industry has to offer. Built by the world-renowned Italian Shipyard CRN with the design having birthed from Rome-based naval architects Zuccon International Project and the British based studio Winch Design.
Gracefully designed, the floating megastructure enjoys elegant exterior lines that both highlights its scale as well as keep a sleek, understated silhouette. The design ensures that there is a flow from deck to deck as well as between interior and exterior living. Once onboard there is a feeling of pure escapism yet one immediately feels at home.
With the interior Winch Design had free reign regarding every little detail on-board. The only mandate that it was given was that the ship had to be both charter and family-friendly. This ensured an environment that would supply the needs of a week charter guest or for that of a long period resident. CRN’s CCO Stefano de Vivo described this combination as Cloud 9’s “double DNA.”
When asked how to describe the interior the creative director of Winch Design, Andrew Winch, called it “driftwood beach chic”. This underscores the unique combination of ultra-luxury with a relaxing feel throughout.
The major design elements such as vivid blue contrasted with sand tones creates an elegant, clean yet bold look. The nautical theme has been further explored with the usage of corals and shells. The woodwork mainly consists of limed oak and Brushed Douglas fir. Throughout her entire interior, the Cloud 9 has been fitted with over 50 surface materials.
Her flowing interior spaces enhances the onboard space while keeping cosy and private nooks throughout. The superyacht can accommodate 12 guests in 8 cabins. She further enjoys a crew of 22. The ship’s amenities are too numerous to mention but some highlights include a full beauty salon, a large 12-meter pool situated on the main deck, a bespoke limousine tender for comfortable boarding and a large beach club with direct access to the water.
The floating megastructure also took home the Best Layout on a Yacht award at the World Yacht Trophies 2017.
