Kuala Lumpur’s Toyota Classics Is Back

The Toyota Classics has evolved into a much-awaited annual event for the musically discerning, who are delighted to know that their contribution will make a difference to society.

For almost 30 years, Toyota Classics has brought classical music enthusiasts together to enthral, entertain and enlighten them with some of the world’s most renowned soloists, conductors and orchestras. Toyota Classics is UMW Toyota Motor’s CSR initiative to enrich the lives of the community through philanthropic activities and the proceeds from this performance will be donated to deserving organisations.

The concert will be held on Oct 29, 2019, performed by the London Chamber Orchestra — under the baton of conductor Christopher Warren Green and soloist Lucienne Ranaudin Vary. The orchestra is also the longest established professional chamber orchestra in the UK, having toured globally, record with major labels and their own LCO Live imprint, and run a large-scale community project, Music Junction.

With a tagline of “Music that Moves Lives”, the Toyota Classics’ philosophy is fuelled by a passion for constant innovation and discovery, hoping to touch lives far beyond the stage through the environment and youth causes. Part of the proceeds from the Toyota Classic event this year will be used to rehabilitate and restore degraded mangrove areas in Sulaman, Tuaran.

The efforts to plant a total of 5,000 mangrove trees to conserve the shorelines will be carried out in collaboration with Sabah Wetlands Conservation Society (SWCS) and will involve about 13,000 students from neighbouring schools, local university and community.

Another beneficiary of this event is Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), to enable university students to be the catalyst for community growth outreach project to the youth and community in Lanchang, Pahang, by equipping them with sufficient information on science technology engineering and mathematics.
