Last night I was lucky to be invited to the launch of the Style & Splendour Exhibition, hosted at Lyon & Turnbull. The selling exhibition shows fashion photography of Dior fashions from LIFE magazine, taken by Mark Shaw in 50s/60s. Jewellery from the period is also displayed alongside the prints.

I’ve taken a few photos of my favourite prints and pieces for you to see. Prices range from £40 to £12 000.

Mark Shaw was one of the first photographers to use colour for runway and behind the scenes at shows. These prints are all between 1952 – 1962.

My favourite print from the Style & Splendour Exhibition is of Gitta Schilling, wearing Dior’s romantic dress in the 1960s. Gitta was discovered in Berlin walking down a local parade and ended up being one of the most sought after models in the world.

The most interesting piece of jewellery is this diamond and ruby set ribbon bracelet. It feels delicate yet heavy, on the clasp ‘Valerie’ is engraved possibly having a love story in its past.

I would urge you to take a look at this beautiful exhibition if nothing else, the prints are limited edition and capture the period of time perfectly.
