During The Quail, Rolls-Royce unveiled their latest commission, Michael Fux’s Custom Rolls-Royce Cullinan in Fux Orange.

The Quail has been the setting of many spectacular reveals since its inception but this year had a very special and exceptionally unique reveal indeed.

More than a year ago car collector Michael Fux spotted a vibrant orange ladies wrap that caught his eye while in South Florida. He subsequently purchased it and decided that this would be the colour of his new acquisition.

He sent it off to the Rolls-Royce at Goodwood in the UK. Together with the Bespoke design and colour development team, it took a little over a year but they finally managed to match Mr Fux’s desired custom colour precisely.

Michael Fux’s love affair with commissioning a custom Rolls-Royce is not a newfound love. In fact, this commission is his twelfth bespoke Rolls-Royce. During the unveiling at The Quail by Torsten Müller-Ötvös, the Chief Executive at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, he commented:

“Michael is a true patron of our Rolls-Royce Bespoke artistry. He has continually brought us colour challenges ranging from exterior finishes to perfect colour matching for a variety of materials throughout his creations. For more than a decade, my team has never failed to deliver for him and the brand. He has created a collection of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars that will grace the lawn of Pebble Beach and Concours around the world for the next century.”

In order to create the distinctive Cullinan in Fux Orange colour, the process takes more than seven layers of finish polished by hand for multiple hours in the Surface Finish Center. But the customisation goes beyond just the colour of the body. This custom Rolls-Royce Cullinan also features black Cullinan wheels and pinstripe wheel centres in the bright ‘Fux Orange.’

The interior has been fitted out in hand-crafted Arctic White leather with offsetting Orange stitching and Orange Rolls-Royce ‘RRs’ on the headrests. In an official statement, the customs department added: “Arctic White is carried over to the luxurious box grain leather fascia, steering wheel control stems and carpets. The designers brought colour contrast with ‘Fux Orange’ finished fascia veneer, rear-view mirror and lambswool floor mats. The contrast of white and colour showcased the artisanship with exacting standards for the Rolls-Royce craftspeople.”

Having a custom colour for you reserved at Roll-Royce is in itself quite an accomplishment. Although there are a few clients around the globe that has this privilege, this custom commission has afforded Michael Fux a unique title. At ten custom colours exclusively reserved for him, he is now the individual with the most colours ‘owned’ by a single patron.

These colours can only be used by, or with, the permission of the client.

  • Fux Orange (Cullinan)
  • Fux Fuxia Pearl (Phantom)
  • Fux Fuxia (Dawn)

  • Fux White (Ghost)
  • Fux Purple Candy (Phantom Drophead Coupé)

With a car collection of more than 150 of the world’s most unique and colourful motor cars and growing, this will most certainly not be his last.
