One of the installation shows that took place at Milan Fashion Week Men’s shows was the Missoni Spring/Summer 2019 collection. Set out in a store layout, the attendees were able to get up, close and personal with each piece. The mannequins were styled in the centre of the showroom in active and casual poses. Set on sand, with sand deliberately covering parts of the shoes, this underscored the fact that the collection was made to be lived in and forms part of your ‘adventures’.
The recurring 70’s trend, that has been prevalent throughout other shows, shone through in the Missoni Spring/Summer 2019 collection as well. The colour palate sees the 70s hues take centre-stage with yellows and browns being incorporated in every look. Although a few other collections at Milan Fashion Week Men’s focused on the glamour side of the 70’s trend, the Missoni Spring/Summer 2019 collection focussed on the the 70’s ‘earth trend’. The textiles are natural in appearance and does not look synthetic or ‘over-worked’. This once again underlines the adventure, earth-loving undertone throughout the collection. With the brand being mostly known for its colorful knitwear designs, it was once again incorporated into the new collection through both knitwear as well as the textile choice in which some of the fabrics appeared knitted rather than weaved.
