The Old Khaki autumn/winter range 2018 is all about versatile design and wearability. The range for this season will be made available to the South African public, in stores as well as online, in April. Consisting of a number of wardrobe staples, the entire collection was designed in a manner that can allow urban wearers to switch up their looks seamlessly from a daytime to a nighttime experience, or from the office to a casual look with ease. This allows the ‘urban explorer’ to be ready for any adventure at the drop, or the pick-up, of a hat.
All of the pieces in the collection is interchangeable and looks can be put together, or most importantly modified, easily and effortlessly. The result is an exceptionally versatile collection, which can easily be described as one of the best that Old Khaki has come up with so far. Thanks to the flexibility of the collection, this year’s range is expected to do well as it caters for any budget. An entire seasonal wardrobe can be built from it, or a strategically purchased piece can have a great effect on the wearers existing wardrobe.

The collection, that was introduced at a private event, is characterized by wintery textures and vibrant colours underpinned by Old Khaki’s perennial denim pieces. Shoppers can expect to find trendy denim colour washes and trucker jackets that will appeal to anyone that wants an edgy look. The jackets from the AW18 collection consist of long parkas, lightweight casual blazers, retro windbreakers, knitwear blazers and down jackets.
Old Khaki, like many other brands in the market, is looking to widen its reach. This can often lead to brands losing their essence, but it is evident that the spirit of Old Khaki still runs through every piece. This collection has done an excellent job of reinforcing the elements that the brand has become famous for, revisiting Old Khaki’s classic blazers that will certainly help to keep the winter cold at bay.

The direction echoed in the women’s range was characterized by a mix of iconic 70s items such as wide length dungarees, denim trucker jackets, knitwear and fluffy jackets and tops with monochrome stripes. The colours included are vibrant mustards and yellows, strong reds and bold dark greens that are offset by pink highlights.
Some of the details that allow the ladies range to stand out include frills, on some of the tops, and bell sleeves. There will also be a number of trendy branded t-shirts and sweats for sale. On the other hand, the men’s clothes will feature pieces that have bold pops of colour, weathered yarn shirts, ginghams and knitted tops. The colours used will be similar to the women’s range but the sporty influences will separate the men’s range from the women’s.
Also, male shoppers should be on the lookout for boots, sneakers in low tops, flyknit-esque sneakers, lace-up Derby boots and the Demsey Italian suede lace-up. Boots are the order of the day in the female range and will include suede boots aptly names Roxy, Saskia, Sloane, and Lenah.
