We take a closer look at the life of Princess Alexandra of Hanover, the granddaughter of Grace Kelly, and the daughter of Princess Caroline and Prince Ernst August.
Over the centuries, it’s safe to say that some royals have been better accepted by the media, and indeed, by the general public than others.
Princess Alexandra of Hanover is a royal that is certainly adored by the public and the media, particularly those with a keen interest in fashion.
The fourth child of Princess Caroline of Monaco, and the third child of Prince Ernst August of the defunct Kingdom of Hanover, this young princess is considered a fashion icon and an inspiration for young and up and coming figure skaters.
But what do we really know about this young woman, and is there more to her than her wardrobe and her talent for figure skating?
Here’s a more detailed look at Princess Alexandra of Hanover.
Who is Princess Alexandra of Hanover?
Princess Alexandra of Hanover was born on the 20th of July in the year 1999 in Upper Austria.
She was christened on the 19th of September, 1999, at her father’s hunting lodge, also in Upper Austria.
Alexandra has half-siblings on both of her parent’s sides, as a result of their previous marriages. Furthermore, her maternal uncle is Albert II, the Sovereign of Monaco.
Alexandra is the granddaughter of American actress Grace Kelly and on her father’s side, she is a direct descendent of Queen Victoria and Wilhelm II, the German Emperor.
Alexandra is also the only one of Caroline’s four children to bear any royal title or style. Because the kingdom of Hanover is no longer in existence, the title is instead recognized legally in Germany as part of her surname.
As of this writing (January 2021) she is 13th in line of succession to the Monegasque Throne. Interestingly, up until she was confirmed into the Catholic Church, she was actually in the line of succession to the British throne as well.
Figure Skating Career
Ever since she was just ten years of age, the princess has been a keen figure skater.
She received her first ice skates at ten years old as a Christmas present, and it was clear from the second she took to the ice that she had a natural ability.
At 11 she competed at a competition in France, and has gone on to compete in many other national skating competitions over the years.
She even represented Monaco at the Youth Olympics in 2015.
Other Interests
When she’s not on the ice, Alexandra shows a keen interest in fashion and has dazzled many a ball, often being snapped in very stylish designer gowns, including many by Chanel, or whom the family has close ties to.
She remains a very humble, reserved, polite, and stylish young lady, adored by her public and the media alike.
