Sun Siyam marks 35 years with a refreshed brand identity, new collections, and cultural experiences rooted in the Maldivian spirit.

Very few destinations capture the romance of barefoot luxury quite like the Maldives. For more than three decades, Sun Siyam has been a name synonymous with authentic island hospitality.

As the group marks its 35th anniversary, they have unveiled a transformation that reaches beyond design and branding.

Rooted in Maldivian culture and aimed at inspiring a new generation of travellers, the evolution is guided by its new statement, The Home of the Maldivian Spirit.

A Heritage Reimagined

Founded in 1990 by Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, the group launched its first resort in 1998 and has since grown into one of the Indian Ocean’s most recognisable hospitality brands.

This new chapter respects that history while reshaping the entire guest experience.

At the heart of the rebrand is a unified identity under The House of Siyam, which now brings together five Maldivian resorts and a Sri Lankan retreat.

The portfolio is divided into three distinct collections, each offering its own take on island living.

Luxury Collection – Defined by elevated experiences and indulgence at the highest level. Sun Siyam Iru Fushi leads this collection with exclusivity and premium Maldivian hospitality.

Lifestyle Collection – Energetic and vibrant, designed for adventure. Sun Siyam Olhuveli and Siyam World set the tone with a wide choice of entertainment and recreation for couples, families and groups of friends.

Privé Collection – Intimate and private, dedicated to seclusion and comfort. Sun Siyam Iru Veli, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef and Sun Siyam Pasikudah in Sri Lanka bring this philosophy to life.

Signature Experiences

The rebrand is supported by a suite of Signature Experiences that highlight culture and creativity. Maldivian Roots introduces guests to weekly culinary and cultural journeys, combining storytelling with traditional flavours.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Insta Villa becomes the Maldives’ first overwater photo studio, built for immersive content in six-star settings.

The Sun Siyam Beach Club brings an easy rhythm by day and a lively atmosphere by night, with music and dancing under the skies.

Experiences such as Wow Welcomes, Hidden Treasure Chests, Plant-Based Bliss dining, and Moonlit Cinemas ensure that each stay is enriched with unique touches.

Supporting this renewed guest focus is Siyam Rewards, a digital membership programme designed to build stronger connections.

The redesigned website, sunsiyam.com, mirrors the refreshed look across digital and print channels.

The identity remains Maldivian at its core, but with a modern sensibility that appeals to today’s global luxury traveller.

The process has been shaped by leading industry specialists. JHAGGER&CO led brand strategy, while StudioSixty7 in London reimagined interior environments.

Hospitality veteran Dominik Ruhl contributed to new operational standards, and Sun Siyam’s operations teams, led by Abdulla Thamheed, worked alongside managers and brand divisions to bring the concept to life.
