TERRA 2025 brings over 40 international artists to Burgundy, transforming historic châteaux into contemporary art galleries from 24 Oct to 23 Nov.
The vineyards of Burgundy are preparing to host one of France’s most ambitious cultural events, as TERRA 2025 returns for its third edition.
More than forty international artists will transform UNESCO-recognised heritage sites into temporary galleries.
Running from 24 October to 23 November 2025, the exhibition brings together contemporary art, French cultural heritage, and the region’s celebrated wine traditions across four major venues.
A Vision Rooted in Terroir and Heritage
Founded by Swiss-Colombian curator Jenn Ellis, art historian Emie Diamond, and cultural producer Milena Berman, TERRA has developed a reputation as a pioneering project that rethinks how exhibitions can be staged.
The 2025 edition expands in both scale and ambition while keeping its focus on creating a dialogue between contemporary practice and Burgundy’s history.
The calendar positioning is deliberate. Opening directly after Art Basel Paris VIP Days and concluding with Sotheby’s Hospices de Beaune auction, TERRA 2025 places itself at the centre of the international art and wine season, appealing to collectors, connoisseurs, and cultural travellers.
Four Venues, Four Narratives
La Cuverie des Cîteaux, Savigny-lès-Beaune
Once part of the historic Cîteaux Abbey, this former winery provides a setting for works on the theme “Texture / Passages of Time.”
Artists Aligna Vergnano, Hansol Kim, and Filipa Tojal respond to the enduring materials of stone and wood through painting, sculpture, and installation.
La Chapelle de l’Oratoire, Beaune
This 17th-century baroque chapel is the backdrop for “Articulations of Tenderness & Softness.” Artists Mark Jackson, Kym Ellery, Jean Christophe Norman, and Oliver Beer reframe the grandeur of devotional architecture as a site of intimacy and resonance.
Château C du Domaine Frey, Aloxe-Corton
Amid the vineyards of Corton, the château hosts the “In Nature” theme. Artists Pieter Vermeersch, Ana Paula Santana, and Patricio Tejedo present works on organic matter, sound, and growth in a space deeply tied to viticulture.
La Maison de Pommard
This family vigneron’s home, belonging to the de Montille lineage, houses the theme “Intimacy and Domestic Space.” Works by Androulla Michael, Jingshan Ding, Martha Freud, and Freya Fang Wang bring tenderness and memory into a lived-in setting of wine heritage.
Partnerships and International Reach
The exhibition is supported by prestigious partners, including LVMH Vins d’Exception, Sotheby’s, Diptyque, Private Partners, FICOFI, and Blue Pool Capital. Galleries such as Almine Rech, Edel Assanti, Enari, Silica, Galerie Chloé Perrin, Palmer, Amelie Du Chalard, Gallery C, and Soho Revue will also participate, ensuring a strong international presence.
Supporting Emerging Artists
Eight artists selected from an open call will feature alongside established names.
This accounts for around fifteen per cent of the programme, reflecting TERRA’s commitment to discovering new voices while maintaining its curatorial standards.
The Curators and Producer
Jenn Ellis, co-founder, brings an international curatorial practice shaped by her Swiss-Colombian background and experience in Hong Kong and London.
Emie Diamond contributes academic rigour, drawing on her research and work with leading galleries.
Producer Milena Berman connects art and wine, with over a decade of experience in Burgundy and beyond.
Extended Experiences
Beyond the four main sites, selected works will appear at venues such as FICOFI in Beaune, a private club bringing together the world’s leading wine producers and collectors.
A Calendar of Distinction
The exhibition opens with a weekend of vernissages, private tours, and a gala dinner at Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune from 24 to 26 October.
It closes on the weekend of 14 to 16 November, aligned with Sotheby’s Hospices de Beaune auction, one of the most important moments in the global wine calendar.
Looking Ahead
Now in its third edition, TERRA 2025 has established itself as a key event in the international art calendar and Burgundy’s cultural life.
By staging contemporary art within historic spaces, it creates encounters that feel authentic and unique to the region.
With its balance of established and emerging voices, and its deep ties to Burgundy’s heritage, TERRA continues to build a legacy that links art, wine, and cultural history in a way few other events achieve.
