The Maserati Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz

This year’s Maserati Snow Polo World Cup at St. Moritz kicked off in its spectacular and unique setting at the frozen lake of St. Moritz in Switzerland. The coveted tournament took place from the 26th of January and ran ’til the 28th of January 2018. This year’s installment saw one of the most action-packed kickoffs that the series has offered thus far. The spectacularly thrilling final game saw Team Cartier claim victory over Team Maserati by 4.5 to 4.

All the four teams that participated in the tournament played incredibly entertaining and high-class matches over the 3 days of the tournament to the delight of more than 15,000 spectators that witnessed the event. The crowd that witnessed this year’s tournament is the highest ever number of spectators to attend the tournament. Set against a picturesque backdrop created by the snow-capped mountains, the sunny weather created a beautiful contrast between the two extremes.

Some of the noticeable guests at the tournament Slalom World Champion Giorgio Rocca and England polo star Malcolm Borwick. What makes the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz truly unique is that it is the only high-goal polo tournament that is played on snow.

The Maserati team consisted of Zhanna Bandurko/Raya Sidorenko (Handicap +0), Gerardo Mazzini  (Handicap +6), Hissam al Hyder (Handicap +6) and Robert Strom (Handicap +4) played in St. Moritz for the first time.

Equal in power and agility the polo village saw a fleet of Maserati vehicles. Guests and spectators alike could take a closer look at the new Ghibli MY18 – which launched in Summer 2017. The Ghibli MY18 with its trim lines GranLusso and GranSport performed a record number of test drives throughout the entire Polo weekend.

The clothing worn by the official ‘Team Maserati’ during the tournament is the product of the established and continuing collaboration between La Martina and Maserati.
