Enjoy the ultimate summer treat with Veuve Clicquot Picnic Baskets from Great Scotland Yard Hotel, luxury food and champagne for London’s finest parks.
As London’s summer calendar fills up, the Great Scotland Yard Hotel in Westminster has introduced a new seasonal experience.
The hotel has partnered with champagne house Veuve Clicquot to offer Veuve Clicquot Picnic Baskets, bringing together five-star food, service and location in a format built for the warmer months.
A Timed Summer Launch
The launch coincides with National Picnic Week (17–23 June 2025) and is aimed at both hotel guests and Londoners looking for something more considered than a typical park picnic. Each basket is designed around a full meal, prepared by the hotel’s kitchen, and can be enjoyed in any of the nearby Royal Parks.
The hotel is located just minutes from St James’s Park, Green Park and Hyde Park. Guests can collect their baskets and walk straight into some of the most recognisable green spaces in central London. It’s deliberately low-effort, but with high attention to detail.
What’s Inside the Veuve Clicquot Picnic Baskets
Each picnic basket includes a full menu of freshly made dishes. The ratte potato salad with capers, parsley and candied walnuts is one example of how the kitchen uses familiar ingredients with more care than usual. The coronation chicken sandwich is another classic, but well-made.
There’s a focaccia with tomato and caramelised onion, baked in-house, and a bottle of homemade lemonade for each guest. It’s a well-balanced mix, covering savoury, sweet and fresh.
Extras are available for those who want to add more, including pork pie, shortbread, cheese and charcuterie, olives, dried fruit, dips with crudités, and chocolate-dipped apricots. Each has been chosen to round out the meal without turning it into a buffet.
Champagne at the Centre
1 is at the centre of the offer. Guests can choose either Veuve Clicquot Brut (£124) or Veuve Clicquot Rosé (£148) to go with their food. This is a partnership rather than a name-drop; the basket is designed around the champagne, not the other way around.
Everything comes with eco-friendly tableware and a blanket, so there’s no need to bring anything else. The baskets are available for two or more people, priced at £40 per person, and can be ordered through the concierge or booked ahead online or by phone. The service is open to hotel guests and non-residents.
A Practical, Ongoing Service
The hotel will run the service throughout the summer, depending on the weather. It’s flexible enough to be used for last-minute park plans or planned outdoor events.
The hotel itself is based in a Grade II listed building from the 1820s, with interiors that reflect both its history and its current five-star status. Alongside the main restaurant Ekstedt at the Yard, it also runs The 40 Elephants bar, the Síbín speakeasy, and The Parlour for afternoon tea.
The Veuve Clicquot Picnic Baskets sit alongside these other offerings as part of the hotel’s wider food and drink programme. They’re built for couples, families, or groups who want to eat well outside, without compromising on quality or service.
This is not a reinterpretation of a British picnic. It’s a hotel-standard meal packed up and made easy to take into the park, with Veuve Clicquot at the centre of it. No ceremony, no overstatement, just a well-made experience from a team that knows what they’re doing.
