5 Quick Tips On How To Prepare For A Dinner Party

Influencer Mia L Middleton gives us her 5 top tips and tricks on how to prepare your home for a dinner party.

Got home late, need to shower and get dressed before guests arrive? Here are some quick tips to revamp your flat ready for any dinner party.

Fresh Flowers

A quick, easy way to enhance a room, whether they are from the local supermarket or bespoke florist, is to add flowers. My favourites are lilies or peonies! If gifting – get the bespoke look, rewrap your flowers in brown paper and finish it off with a ribbon. For the house – look for alternative vases to make the most of your beautiful petals.

Tidy Away

Save yourself time by organising with Beautify. I have these two organisers for beauty products and jewellery which look great on the side or to take away travelling. Everything in one place a one time. This ‘tool’ will make sure that you don’t run around and waste 20 minutes looking for those gold hoops. If you are running against the clock, this little trick will save you a lot of time and will allow you to spend the time saved on other important tasks.

Stack Books

A new favourite of mine, coffee table books! You can pick these up from Selfridges, Amazon or even charity shops (I once saw a Tom Ford in Notting Hill). I love them stacked on media units, bedside cabinets or consort tables. Great to mix up genre if you share a home, each pick one so your home has a little of you both. Plus, if the chicken isn’t quite ready yet, your guests will have something to page through and keep them entertained without them even realizing that something is amiss.

Scents & Soaps

One major thing I notice in homes immediately is the smell. We would love others to think of our home scent as clean linen or fresh bread from the oven. I don’t know about you but I have no time to be baking loaves before a dinner party.

Cheat with beautiful candles from Jo Malone, they also offer matching soaps/cream sets for your bathroom. This offers a great scent continuity that guests will remember. I also spray my bed with my favourite perfume Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming. This not only adds to your home’s signature smell but makes your bed that much more inviting when you slip in between the sheets after a long day.

Prints & Mirrors

Inspire your guests with motivational quotes in the bathroom or a poster in the study. Also, a great way to create the illusion of more space in smaller rooms is with large mirrors. You can usually find one pretty cheap from department stores like Bed Bath and Beyond.

These quick tips will not only help you to prepare for a dinner party but will make sure that it has that something extra.
