If, however, you want a smart, sophisticated, upmarket cocktail bar that can whip up a fantastic White Russian, this is the perfect place to visit.

Within walking distance of London Bridge Station, the elegant basement setting complete with tropical plants and art deco furnishings just oozes charm and sophistication.

This is very much a cocktail lover’s bar as there are heaps of classics, as well as some in-house specials that you won’t find anywhere else. What’s more, if you visit on Saturday, you’ll get to enjoy their weekly cocktail party, complete with singing and dancing.

Gong At The Shard

Gong at the Shard is London’s highest bar, which sits proudly within The Shard – London’s tallest building.

This isn’t a typical champagne and cocktail bar, this is something very special. Each beverage on offer here is styled after a famous invention, including their ‘The Cure’ cocktail, which is based upon penicillin and contains ingredients such as Maple, bourbon, citrus and liquorice.

Located on the 52nd floor, the views are out of this world, though it is worth booking well in advance!

The Boot And Flogger

Tucked neatly away on a side street close to Borough Market, this bar is full of character and has a fantastic wine list and an equally impressive selection of cheese.

When visiting, it’s best if you are hungry as the food here is divine. You can enjoy English classics such as beer-battered fish and chips served with minted pea puree, along with bangers and mash served with homemade beer-battered onion rings and a rich Madeira gravy.

There are also wine tastings held here and is really worth it for the great intimate atmosphere.
