The luxury tequila world has evolved beyond traditional boundaries, with brands creating immersive experiences that celebrate craftsmanship, culture, and heritage. In February 2026, Clase Azul México opened Casa de Los Leones, an extraordinary brand home that redefines the intersection of Mexican artistry, premium spirits, and hospitality excellence.

A Historic Mansion Reborn

Located in Polanco neighbourhood of Mexico City, Casa de Los Leones occupies a meticulously restored historic mansion. The building opened its doors on February 17. The restoration was led by C Cúbica Arquitectos, working with leading and emerging Mexican designers and artisans.

The result unfolds across multiple floors and rooms, creating a richly layered environment that functions as both an intimate gathering space and a platform for contemporary Mexican design excellence.

“Casa de los Leones is our homage to Mexico, a sacred home where our roots, our culture, and our future converge,” said Founder Arturo Lomelí. “Clase Azul was never meant to live only in a decanter. This house represents a natural evolution of who we are: a place to gather, to share, and to honour Mexican culture through meaningful experiences, hospitality, and human connection.”

The Art of Immersive Experience Design

From the moment visitors cross the threshold, Casa de Los Leones delivers an orchestrated journey into the distinctive universe of Clase Azul México. The entrance features an ornate ceramic tunnel in the Lobby. A physical and metaphorical transition.

This commitment to artistic excellence extends throughout the property. Rotating art installations refresh quarterly, ensuring each visit offers new discoveries. The inaugural exhibition features work by Oaxacan artist Amador Montes, whose collaboration with Clase Azul México extends beyond the mansion’s walls. Montes recently partnered with the brand on the decanter design for their first limited-edition mezcal, marking the debut release from Clase Azul México’s creative platform, Encuentros.

“I am incredibly proud to be a part of this project,” said Andrea Cesarman, architect and Co-Founder of C Cúbica Arquitectos, the firm that led the restoration. “Casa de Los Leones is meant to empower Mexico, and throughout the space you can see how deeply Mexican heritage is woven into every detail.”

Preservation Meets Innovation

The restoration process, guided by a strategic partnership with México Territorio Creativo, embraced respectful enhancement rather than wholesale transformation. The objective was creating a space that feels as though it had always belonged to its current incarnation.

Original architectural features received meticulous attention during the restoration. Stunning stained-glass windows were recuperated, whilst a magnificent chandelier in the Lounge by artist Thierry Jeannot was restored to its former glory.

Throughout the property, visitors encounter elegant stone staircases, vibrant polychrome mosaic floors, and intricate wrought-iron details alongside contemporary design interventions.

The artistic programme extends well beyond the entrance installations. Works by artist Raul de la Cerda appear throughout multiple spaces, including the Lounge, Cocktail Bar, and Acervo, as well as the exclusive Blue Bar, which remains reserved for private events and special occasions.

Materials as Cultural Storytellers

The interior design treats furnishings and artworks as natural extensions of the architecture. Custom-designed pieces were developed through collaboration with Mexican artisans and designers, with emphasis on locally-sourced materials including wood, ceramics, and traditional textiles.

Ceramics occupy a central role throughout Casa de Los Leones, reflecting their connection to Clase Azul México’s brand story. From the agave that grows in Mexican soil to the brand’s internationally recognised hand-crafted decanters.

To honour this connection, the design team partnered with Marva Studio to create bespoke ceramic details that celebrate soil as the shared origin of both the spirit and the space itself.

A particular highlight includes a commissioned installation in the Lounge by artist Beatriz Morales, whose abstract textile works are crafted from discarded agave fibres, creating a connection between the brand’s agricultural heritage and contemporary artistic expression.

Taste of Time: The Signature Experience

Casa de Los Leones’ flagship offering, “Taste of Time,” is available exclusively by appointment. This intimate experience invites small groups into a guided exploration of five iconic Clase Azul México tequila expressions, each expertly paired with chef-crafted bites.

Structured as a sequence of chapters, the tasting experience pays homage to Clase Azul México’s past, present, and future whilst highlighting the role of time in premium tequila production. For enthusiasts of luxury tequila experiences, this represents one of the most comprehensive offerings available. From the patience required to cultivate mature agave plants to the careful aging and artisanal craftsmanship that shapes each expression.

The experience extends beyond the tasting session. Guests enjoy a guided exploration of the mansion and its gardens, concluding with a visit to the Cocktail Bar for sobremesa, that quintessentially Latin tradition of lingering conversation.

A Sanctuary for Collectors

Casa de Los Leones dedicates an entire floor to Clase Azul México’s collector community. The intimate spaces include the Library, Library Terrace, and Private Tasting Room. This exclusive floor invites collectors to savour rare vault limited editions whilst engaging in conversation with fellow enthusiasts.

This collector-focused space acknowledges the deep relationships that premium spirits brands can forge with their most dedicated admirers.

Cultural Investment and Creative Community

Casa de Los Leones marks an intentional investment in Mexico City’s creative ecosystem and the broader community of designers, artisans, and cultural practitioners who shape the country’s design future. This commitment reflects Founder Arturo Lomelí‘s long-standing vision to honour Mexico not exclusively through premium tequila production, but through spaces that celebrate the nation’s cultural heritage and creative vitality.

The opening marks a personal milestone for Lomelí, whose entrepreneurial journey began in 1997 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, with the founding of Clase Azul México. His original inspiration was to craft a product as exquisite as the land that serves as its home.

Today, the brand’s tequilas and mezcals are available in over 100 countries, including Mexico, the United States, Canada, France, Spain, Greece, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and Australia.

Design as Cultural Expression

The partnership between Clase Azul México and leading Mexican creative professionals extends beyond conventional client-service provider relationships. The collaboration is a genuine investment in the country’s design future, providing emerging talents with opportunities to work alongside established masters whilst contributing to a project of national cultural significance.

This approach reflects broader trends in luxury hospitality, where brands seek authentic connections with local creative communities rather than imposing external design vocabularies. Similar to how establishments like Michael Caines’ Stafford London achieved Michelin recognition through authentic culinary experiences rooted in craftsmanship.

A Living Expression of Brand Evolution

Rooted in one of the world’s great cultural capitals, Casa de Los Leones emerges as a living expression of Clase Azul México’s trajectory. The space embodies the brand’s core values: art, craftsmanship, and human connection.

The mansion functions as more than a showcase for products. It’s a cultural institution that invites guests to participate in immersive experiences shaped by meaningful encounters, much like how Mexico’s cultural heritage sites offer visitors deeper connections to the country’s rich traditions.

Accessibility and Future Vision

Located at Luis G. Urbina 104 in Polanco, Casa de Los Leones operates exclusively by appointment, ensuring each visit receives personalised attention. This approach allows the team to tailor experiences to individual interests whilst maintaining the intimate atmosphere that distinguishes the venue from larger, more commercial brand experiences.

The appointment-only model reflects practical considerations about preserving the mansion’s historic character whilst delivering service standards. By limiting visitor numbers and scheduling experiences thoughtfully, Casa de Los Leones maintains the residential atmosphere that makes the space feel like a genuine home rather than a commercial venue.

For Clase Azul México, Casa de Los Leones marks not an endpoint but a new beginning. One that invites guests to discover Mexican culture through immersive experiences that honour tradition whilst embracing innovation. In a world where luxury increasingly means access to unique experiences rather than mere material possession, Casa de Los Leones offers something genuinely rare: the opportunity to participate in a living celebration of Mexican creativity, one shared moment at a time.
