While some luxury brands’ looks are mainly dictated by trends, there are some established fashion houses whose designs and looks are so distinct that they are immediately recognisable without seeing who the collection is by. Be it Versace, Burberry or in this case Emilio Pucci. This established ‘look and feel’ might be why the Emilio Pucci Spring Summer 2019 Ready to Wear Collection could have been created without a Creative Director at the helm.
For about a year now Emilio Pucci’s Creative Director chair has sat empty. Since then the collections produced by the house have been, what many in the industry, refer to as ‘without destination’ and has seen little innovation or change as is the case in most established houses where their signature look is their signature. The Emilio Pucci Spring Summer 2019 Ready to Wear Collection has however seen pieces like the masculine-lined tanks and asymmetrically button-downs introducing some unisex pieces to their collection. The complete collection sees very loose fitting and organic shapes with drapes, billowing shirts, palazzo pants and, well… basically, everything loose and free. The silhouettes and multi-coloured patterns create an immediate feel of summers lounging around luxury island resorts and the easy life.
