Aesthetic procedures have long been popular among older people since getting a facelift or having skin-tightening treatments allows them to maintain their looks for as long as they can. They’ve also been in-demand among new moms who want to get their pre-baby bodies back or those who are looking for a confidence boost. However, more and more young individuals are getting aesthetic treatments as a preventive measure against premature skin aging or to subtly improve certain areas of the face or body.
According to a survey by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, nearly 770,000 individuals aged 20-29 underwent cosmetic surgical and minimally-invasive procedures in 2020. Some procedures are more popular than others among the Gen Z set, and they’re expected to be even more in-demand as we’re slowly transitioning to the pre-pandemic way of life. These are the aesthetic procedures that Generation Z can’t get enough of.
Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedures
Most people think that Generation Z is more liberal and progressive when it comes to sex compared to previous generations. However, a recent study has shown that Gen Zers between the ages of 20-24 were more likely to say that they had no sexual partners than Millennials or Gen Xers. Also, one-fifth of them report that they are sexually inactive. But this doesn’t mean that this generation doesn’t pay attention to their intimate area as an increasing number of women in their early 20s are getting vaginal rejuvenation procedures.
Vaginal rejuvenation treatments have become popular since these improve the appearance and function of the vagina. Some treatments, such as labiaplasty, may help to prevent chronic urinary tract infections and physical discomfort during activities such as cycling. Some experts also say that more women are getting vaginal rejuvenation laser treatments in order to be more comfortable when wearing tight clothing such as leggings, which is an essential part of the athleisure fashion trend.
Ear Surgery Or Otoplasty
Some people are born with large ears or ones that stick out, and having them can be hard, especially when you’re young. The good thing is that ear surgery, or otoplasty, can be done even when a someone is as young as 8 years old, and it can help to boost confidence in children. Some Gen Zers who are past school age are getting this type of aesthetic treatment too since it helps them to have a more balanced facial profile, which enables them to look their best in real life and on their social media pages.
Young people are taking active steps to delay the signs of aging by getting “prejuvenation” treatments, which are aesthetic procedures to prevent the first wrinkle or fine line. The most popular of these treatments are neurotoxin injections such as Botox, but majority of older Gen Z prefer to have soft-tissue fillers such as hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, or polylactic acid for a more natural look.
These fillers are injected into smile lines, the corners of the mouth, the cheeks, and lips, among others, to restore volume for a younger look. Gen Z is taking proactive measures to improve their looks as they’re getting more and more aesthetic treatments. Getting soft-tissue fillers, ear surgery, or vaginal rejuvenation treatments not only enhances one’s appearance, but they can also boost one’s self-esteem, which can help Generation Z to deal with life’s ups and downs.
