Heesen Yachts sells the 55m superyacht Agnetha, blending Dutch engineering, refined design, and turnkey luxury for her new owner.
Heesen Yachts has confirmed the sale of the 55-metre motor yacht Agnetha, a Steel Class BlueWater vessel known internally as YN 20955.
Combining Dutch build quality with modern Mediterranean appeal, the yacht has now found her new owner through Dubai-based Phoenix Yacht Management.
A Collaboration Between the Netherlands and Dubai
The sale was handled by Ian Harris, CEO of Phoenix Yacht Management. His company has become well-known for connecting discerning clients in the Gulf region with European builders.
“We are truly excited to have finalised this sale. We understand the quality that the Heesen 55m platform provides, and we know it will suit our client’s vision of life on the water. As well as being suited for private use, she is also an excellent option for charter,” said Harris.
The combination of private and charter capability makes Agnetha a strong proposition in today’s market, where buyers value both versatility and pedigree.
From Dutch Waters to the Riviera
After her completion in the Netherlands, Agnetha was relocated to the South of France for viewings. Showing the yacht in the heart of the Mediterranean gave potential buyers a chance to experience her in a natural setting for this size and style of vessel.
Heesen worked with several lifestyle brands to create an inviting, lived-in atmosphere on board. Partners included Molteni & C, Technogym, Frette, Oliver Treutlein, Glancy Fawcett, and The Wool Company. Art from Lyki and Tartarelli Art Gallery completed the interior presentation.
Rather than a technical display, this approach gave visitors a sense of what ownership might actually feel like, an increasingly important part of modern yacht sales.
Engineering and Performance
The 55-metre steel platform shows why Heesen’s name carries weight in the superyacht world. The steel hull provides the strength and stability needed for long-range passages, while her lines remain elegant enough for the smaller ports of the Mediterranean.
Agnetha’s Fast Displacement hull design offers a blend of efficiency and comfort. Twin IMO Tier III-compliant engines deliver a top speed of 15.5 knots. This extremely impressive feat has been achieved while keeping emissions low.
It’s a reflection of where the industry is heading: efficiency, range, and sustainability now sit alongside luxury as standard expectations for serious owners.
Trial by Sea
The yacht’s delivery voyage from the Netherlands to Monaco served as a real-world test of her engineering. Captain Mike Rouse oversaw the passage and later commented on the yacht’s behaviour at sea.
“Her sea-keeping ability was impressive, maintaining stability and comfort throughout. The vessel passed through critical maritime routes with confidence, showcasing Heesen’s engineering excellence. From propulsion to onboard systems, everything operated flawlessly. This delivery not only proved the yacht’s resilience but also affirmed her readiness for luxury cruising. A remarkable debut for a world-class superyacht,” he said.
The voyage covered varied conditions and confirmed that Agnetha performs exactly as intended outside of controlled sea trials, steady, responsive, and quiet underway.
Interiors Designed for Life on Board
Inside, Agnetha accommodates twelve guests in six cabins, with the owner’s suite positioned forward on the main deck. The layout is now a preferred choice among owners who want privacy without being cut off from the main living spaces.
The remaining five guest cabins are arranged with flexibility in mind, making the yacht equally suitable for family use or charter.
The communal areas are generous, with spaces designed for relaxed socialising rather than formality. The balance between private and shared spaces shows how yacht design has shifted toward comfort, light, and easy movement throughout.
Confidence in the Market
Ruud van der Stroom, Heesen’s Chief Commercial Officer, placed the sale in the context of the shipyard’s recent activity.
“The completion of this sale marks the end of a successful Monaco Yacht Show in Heesen’s new era. It demonstrates our belief that our brand is best presented in person on the water. It has been a pleasure to work with Ian Harris of Phoenix Yacht Management and his team. We are proud to be able to deliver a superyacht that is truly turnkey,” he said.
His comments underline the continuing importance of in-person showings. Even with digital tools and virtual tours, buyers still want to step aboard on vessel like this and experience a yacht for themselves before signing.
Heesen’s focus on turnkey delivery means every yacht leaves the yard fully operational. Not only in terms of the fittment but even with trained crew and tested systems. It’s an approach that saves new owners time and ensures a smooth transition to life at sea.
A Sister Ship on the Horizon
For buyers still interested in this model, Heesen has confirmed that a sister ship, Frida, is under construction and due for delivery in December 2025.
Built on the same proven platform, she will allow a new owner to personalise details to their own taste.
Heesen’s semi-custom approach gives each yacht a unique identity while retaining the efficiency and reliability of a tried-and-tested design.
A Legacy of Dutch Boatbuilding
Since 1978, Heesen Yachts has specialised in steel and aluminium superyachts ranging from 50 to 80 metres. More than 200 launches later, Hessen’s yard remains one of the most respected names in the industry both locally and across the globe.
Dutch shipbuilding has long been associated with precision, quality, and reliability. But Heesen’s work continues that tradition.
The company’s expertise in both steel and aluminium construction allows owners to choose between the strength and range of a displacement hull or the speed advantages of lighter materials.
Market Outlook
The sale of Agnetha offers a snapshot of where the superyacht market stands today. Buyers are drawn to quality, proven engineering, and designs that balance private enjoyment with charter potential.
The involvement of Phoenix Yacht Management also reflects the growing importance of the Middle Eastern market, where more clients are commissioning and buying yachts directly from European builders.
The collaboration with interior brands during the presentation stage highlights how emotional connection now plays a part in yacht sales. Buyers are not only choosing vessels for performance but also for the lifestyle they represent.
Design, Capability, and Practical Luxury
Agnetha represents what many modern owners are looking for: technical ability matched by a refined, understated aesthetic. Her Fast Displacement hull offers smooth cruising with impressive efficiency, while her engines meet strict environmental standards.
Her maiden voyage proved that performance figures on paper translate well into practice. It’s the sort of reassurance that matters most when a buyer is about to take delivery of a new yacht.
Ready from Day One
Heesen’s turnkey approach ensures new owners can start using their yacht immediately after handover.
Every element, from systems checks to crew familiarisation, is completed before delivery.
In an industry where time is often the greatest luxury, this readiness adds real value. It also demonstrates confidence in the shipyard’s build process.
Conclusion
The sale of Agnetha stands as another example of Dutch craftsmanship meeting global demand. Her journey from the Netherlands to the Riviera, and from shipyard to private ownership, highlights the reach and appeal of Heesen’s 55-metre platform.
For her new owner, she offers both privacy and charter potential, along with the reassurance of a proven design. For Heesen, the transaction confirms continued strength in the market and the appeal of its turnkey philosophy.
With Frida due for delivery in 2025, the shipyard continues to build on this success. And while technology has changed how yachts are marketed, the sale of Agnetha shows that nothing replaces seeing a yacht in person, feeling the quality underfoot, and watching her move through the water, exactly where she belongs.
