Regarded as one of, if not the finest watch trade show in the world, the
Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) sees some of the biggest names launch their finest works each year. 2019 was certainly no exception. One of the most anticipated launches was that of the new Montblanc 1858 timepieces.
The Montblanc booth was abuzz with celebrities, members of the press and selected guests. Upon entering, a sense of harmony, calmness and serenity was instantly felt. The decor was a homage to mother nature herself. A welcoming oasis in the hustle and bustle of the trade show. A relaxing space where traders from far and wide could escape and indulge in the outdoors-inside space.

Luscious plant covered walls, breathtaking mountain views and natural wood elements were combined to create a multi-sensory wonderland that complimented the designs to the new timepieces perfectly. The displays were meticulously laid out to create a walking trail, or hike-path (with a little imagination).

Guests got a first look at the brand-new Montblanc timepieces inspired by the storied manufacture Minerva’s rich 161-year watchmaking heritage including the new Montblanc 1858 Geosphere in a nature-inspired bronze and khaki green as well as pieces from its Heritage and TimeWalker lines. After 3 years of development, Montblanc CEO Nicolas Baretzki introduced for the first time the Star Legacy Metamorphosis Limited Edition 8, an innovative timepiece that features a number of complications developed and produced entirely by the Montblanc engineers and master watchmakers.
The outdoors environment created within the space by Montblanc is much more than just a theme of the evening to the brand. It is an important message. The brand believes in going outdoors to reconnect with nature. In order to show their support to CREA Mont Blanc, during SIHH they donated funds to the Research Center For Alpine Ecosystems rather than gifting its traditional Montblanc giveaways to guests. This exceptional act of generosity will contribute to the scientific and academic organisation’s mission to deliver high-quality ecological research to understand how alpine ecosystems function and respond to climate change, as well as communication and education initiatives.

The event saw brand ambassador Hugh Jackman and friend of the Maison Isabeli Fontana attend in full style. Hugh sported the 1858 Geosphere while Isabeli wore the Heritage Automatic. Other notable attendees included
David Gandy, Aldo Comas, Juan Avellaneda, Lawrence Wong, Sveva Alviti, Nanni Saul, Numan Acar, Mr Kira, and Blanda Eggenschwiler.
Munich DJ duo The Spectacular Now entertained guests on the decks while 3-Michelin starred chef Chicco Cerea prepared a live gastronomic experience. The multi-sensory experience continued with guests taking part in a mixology session, enhancing the taste of the mixologists’ cocktails “The 1858”, “The Jackman” and “The Fontana” with the scents and flavours of the mountains.
