Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2019 | Paris Fashion Week

Paris | France

Fashion is, has and will always be a reflection of the circumstances the world finds itself in. As most of us can agree, the world is in a very strange place at this moment politically, economically and socially. Therefore it is no surprise that two main themes have been a constant throughout all of the fashion weeks; retro-inspired looks (perhaps a yearning to better days) and simplicity. The stripped-back, ‘wearable’ pieces that we have been seeing have been prevalent on all major runways. That being said, the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2019 collection was one of the few exceptions.

Since renewing his contract with Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière has been on top form. The Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2019 collection saw nothing of stripped-back fashion but was retro-futuristic fantasy. The blend between strong 80’s silhouettes and futuristic space-suit sleeves and modeled rubber is a duel focus on the past and future. With no single theme or trend the collection is a conglomerate of different styles, themes and looks. A unique world, separate from this one in which self-expression and indulgence is the norm.
