Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine of Sweden has given birth to her and husband Christopher “Chris” O’Neill’s third child at Danderyd Hospital in Stockholm. Following the birth of the new member of the Swedish royal family, His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden made an official statement announcing the Princess’ name and title.
The young Princess, named Princess Adrienne Josephine Alice, has been granted the duchy of Blekinge. The duchy is situated in the southern part of the kingdom of Sweden. The province of Blekinge is Sweden’s second smallest province and borders the Baltic Sea.
Present at the announcement of Princess Adrienne’s name and title was her aunt, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. The newest member of the Swedish Royal Family’s official style is Her Royal Highness Princess Adrienne Josephine Alice of Sweden, Duchess of Blekinge.

In keeping with Royal tradition, the Princess has received family names honouring previous members of the family. The name Alice was given to the princess in honour of her maternal grandmother Alice Sommerlath. The name Josephine is one of Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine’s middle names and also honours her paternal great-grandmother.
With her father being present at the birth, Her Royal Highness Princess Adrienne was born at 12:41 in the Danderyd Hospital in Stockholm. The Princess is currently tenth in line to the Swedish throne. The new royal baby was born at 50cm long and weighed 3465 grams. In a press release from the Royal Court, Chris” O’Neill said:
“We are thrilled about the new addition to our family. Leonore and Nicolas are looking very much forward to finally meeting their new little sister.”
It is expected that the christening will happen in around three months-time with most of the royal family expected to attend. The infant Princess was introduced to her siblings Princess Leonore and Prince Nicolas at the family’s Swedish home at the Royal Mews. The moment was recorded by Princess Madeleine on her Instagram account.

The husband to Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel is most widely expected to be asked to be Princess Adrienne’s godfather. Once Princess Adrienne is a few months old the couple and their three children will move back to their home in London.
