This project, also known as “Million Trees for Tomorrow,” focuses on expanding green conservation areas at Singha Park in Chiang Rai province, northern Thailand. For every square metre developed, an equivalent area of land is dedicated to reforestation efforts.

Notably, this initiative has already conserved 634 acres of land and planted 6,200 trees, including indigenous species like honeycomb ginger, over the past two years. The initiative aims to plant one million square metres of forest by 2025, with a particular focus on areas supporting 21 species listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)’s Red List.

Initiatives Driving Sustainability and Community Engagement

Recent initiatives underscore S Hotels & Resorts’ commitment to sustainability and community engagement. These include:

  • Nature Trails and Signage: Introduction of nature trails and signage at Santiburi Koh Samui and CROSSROADS Maldives to showcase diverse flora and fauna.
  • Community Engagement Activities: Engaging in community activities, such as street markets in the Maldives to promote local businesses and partnerships with local schools for educational initiatives.
  • Marine Conservation: Through initiatives like the “Save Our Sharks” programme, S Hotels & Resorts actively participates in marine conservation efforts, such as releasing bamboo sharks into the sea and nurturing shark eggs at Marine Discovery Centres.
