Shanghai Me Mayfair opened on the 28th floor of the London Hilton on Park Lane, bringing sweeping views and refined Pan-Asian dining to the heart of Mayfair.
Shanghai Me has officially opened in Mayfair, taking over the top floor of the London Hilton on Park Lane. The restaurant, which welcomed guests on 21 July, brings a Pan-Asian menu to a location with wide views over Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace gardens and the Thames.
This is the first UK opening for the brand, following launches in Dubai and Doha. Monaco is next. For Fundamental Hospitality, which owns Shanghai Me, the Mayfair launch signals its intent to grow in Europe.
A New Option for Pan-Asian Cuisine in London
Shanghai Me’s arrival comes at a time when many diners are looking for restaurants that offer more than just good food. The menu draws on influences from China, Japan and Vietnam, and is part of a broader push to introduce storytelling into the dining experience.
“We are thrilled to officially open Shanghai Me and Bund at London Hilton on Park Lane,” said Evgeny Kuzin, Chairman and Founder of Fundamental Hospitality. “It’s the perfect location to base our restaurant and share our interpretation of Pan-Asian dining and luxury hospitality, and we can’t wait to greet guests this summer.”
The restaurant describes its approach as highlighting “the vibrant essence of Oriental and Chinese flavours with the artistry of Japanese techniques,” aiming to reflect the shared values found across these cultures.
The Design: 1930s Shanghai with a London Backdrop
The interior, created by design firm First Within, references 1930s Shanghai. The space uses dark materials, patterned elements, and low lighting. The layout is set up to maximise the views, with full-length windows wrapping around the dining areas.
There’s room for 120 diners, including two private rooms facing central London. These spaces are designed for both small events and business dinners, offering a more private version of the main restaurant’s atmosphere.
The Menu
The kitchen is led by chef Izu Ani, known for GAIA and La Maison Ani in Dubai, and chef Yukitaka Kitade, who represents Shanghai Me globally. Their menu combines regional dishes with high-end ingredients.
Standout items include yellowtail carpaccio with black truffle, Cantonese-style roast duck with foie gras and caviar, spicy bluefin tuna oshizushi, and a Shanghai-style braised beef short rib. The focus is on presentation and quality ingredients.
Bund Lounge
The venue also includes Bund Lounge, a bar that stays open into the night. It functions both as part of the restaurant and as a separate space. The cocktail list uses Asian ingredients and modern bartending techniques.
Resident DJs provide the music, and the space shifts from evening dining to late-night drinks. The concept is named after the Bund waterfront in Shanghai, once a hub of international trade.
Outlook
Shanghai Me’s position at the top of the London Hilton on Park Lane places it among the city’s most visible dining spots. Its combination of design, cuisine and location is aimed at both Londoners and visitors.
Reservations are open via SevenRooms or by phone at +44 20 4553 5888. The address is 22 Park Lane.
For Fundamental Hospitality, this is a high-profile step into London. For the city’s restaurant scene, it adds another upscale Pan-Asian option in a competitive part of town.
