2. Possessor (2020)

The film was directed and written by Brandon Cronenberg. The story is about an assassin (Tasya Vos) who manipulates or imitates others to carry out her actions. She has an implant installed to the host, which is used to insert consciousness into the host’s mind. Once through with her wits, he forces the host to commit suicide as a way to return to her own body.

It’s difficult for Vos to get back to her domestic life as she is haunted by violence, the same violence she bestows to her hosts. Most of the violence is seen when she puts her son Ira to sleep or have sex with her husband, Michael.

3. Akira (1988)

Akira is regarded as one of the movies with perfect animation and a great masterpiece of Japanese animation. The movie is directed and written by Katsuhiro.

After the reconstruction of Tokyo by Akira, Shotaro’s friend gets injured following a motorbike accident. He is taken for recovery in top-secret government security. Later, Tetsuo develops some psychic powers and decides to do evil exploits with them. Akira had such powers that led to the destruction of Tokyo in 1988. However, Tetsuo develops headaches and is taken back to the hospital.

4. Colossal (2016)

Colossal is one good movie for adults. Its unexpected twist makes it enjoyable. The film was directed and written by Nacho Vigalondo.

It talks about Gloria, an alcoholic with Tim, her boyfriend, whom they later part ways due to Gloria’s drinking behaviour. Gloria gets a job at a local bar, which escalates his alcohol problem. While sleeping on a nearby playground after a drinking mission, she sees a monster and realizes she can manifest and control its movements.

5. The Host (2006)

A gigantic monster rises out of the Han River and starts attacking people. Unfortunately, Gang-du tries to save his daughter but snatches somebody else’s hand. 

The government believes that the monster has some viruses and therefore quarantines everyone connected with the creature while running to save their lives. Later, the Parks shoot the creature until they run out of ammunition.

6. Sputnik (2020)

Oksana returns to Earth after surviving a space accident. But he comes back with a dangerous organism inside him without himself knowing about it. The organism comes out at night while the host is dead asleep. Sputnik is one of the best for those who enjoy darker sci-fi movies.

7. The Fly (1986)

The Fly has been directed and written by David Cronenberg. It’s an amusing script that describes a bright but weird scientist (Seth Brundle) who would transform into a giant man. Unfortunately, one of his planned experiments goes wrong as his fingernails start falling off. His body parts continue to fall, and he loses his human appearance. After some time, he reveals to his friend that he has transformed into a human and insect hybrid which he named “Brundefly”.
