The Astor, 9 Millbank – London – UK

Goddard Littlefair’s prowess shines brightly in their transformation of The Astor at 9 Millbank, the crown jewel of the Heritage Collection. This opulent penthouse, once the headquarters of Imperial Chemical Industries, now stands as a testament to their talent for marrying history with timeless elegance.

Inspired by Viscountess Nancy Astor, the studio has masterfully merged the building’s history with the timeless opulence of Westminster. On the eighth floor of this Grade II listed edifice, a former Director’s dining hall has been reborn as a sumptuous 6.3-meter height reception room,a palatial entertaining space unlike any other in the capital. Here, meticulously restored carved architraves, gilded domes, decorative 1920s cornicing, and hand-cut oak panelling have been complemented with bold and luxurious furnishings.

Four Seasons at Sultanahmet – Istanbul, Turkey

Goddard Littlefair’s remarkable work on the Four Seasons at Sultanahmet, once a historic prison and now a luxury hotel, has earned them a coveted place in Travel + Leisure’s Top 100 Hotels in 2023.

Entrusted with an extensive refurbishment, the award-winning luxury interior design firm has artfully crafted interiors that pay homage to the beauty and rich history of this Old Istanbul landmark.

Embracing the original architecture, the decor revolves around an elegant palette of colours, precious materials, and bespoke pieces that showcase local craftsmanship.

The studio’s meticulous research into styling, patterns, and architectural details has been distilled through a contemporary filter, resulting in designs that resonate harmoniously with the building and its surroundings.

Le Parchamp – Boulogne-Billancourt, France

In Boulogne-Billancourt, on the outskirts of Paris, Goddard Littlefair unveiled the interiors of Le Parchamp, a 123-room hotel housed in a former Banque de France building. Their transformation of this historical structure reflects their unique ability to seamlessly blend history and modernity.

Drawing inspiration from Boulogne-Billancourt’s cinematic history, the studio has effortlessly infused visionary ideas with thoughtful design elements throughout the hotel’s ground floor, rooftop bars, reception area, and guest rooms. The result is a contemporary celebration of the building’s architectural heritage, with a playful nod to Monsieur Hulot, one of French cinema’s most iconic characters of the 1950s and 1960s.

Conclusion

Goddard Littlefair’s journey through 2023 showcases their exceptional talent for transforming spaces with rich histories into modern marvels. From the opulent elegance of The Astor to the historical homage of the Four Seasons at Sultanahmet and the cinematic charm of Le Parchamp, the studio’s ability to harmonize history and modernity is truly unmatched.
