During the annual World Economic Forum His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium and His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan sat down to discuss mutual ties.
Part of the agenda for discussion was plans on strengthening the commercial, economic and investment relationships between the two countries. Furthermore the Palestinian issue as well as international developments was discussed. The topic that took center stage however was that of Jerusalem being recognised as Israel’s capital city by the United States of America. In an official statement The Royal Hashemite Court of Jordan said
“Two sides affirmed the strong relations between Jordan and Belgium and their keenness to advance them, while also maintaining coordination and consultations on various regional and international issues, in the service of the two countries’ mutual interests and with the aim of bolstering global peace and security.”
His Majesty King Abdullah once again underscored the importance for stronger global efforts to forge the peace process in the Middle east during their meeting at the World Economic Forum. His Majesty further started that what is needed is a “comprehensive peace agreement between the Palestinians and the Israelis that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side with Israel.”
Later His Majesty King Abdullah also had a meeting with the Meridiam CEO as well as with the President of Guinea.
